Italian Sausage Sandwiches are super simple and can be super tasty if made with fresh sausages, yummy bread and most importantly good sauce. I made this recipe with only 4 ingredients on a busy soccer night and it was a hit. It only took a few minutes to prepare and tasted delicious and fresh.
Ingredients
- French Rolls
- Mild sausages
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Rose Romano’s Italian Peppers Topping (sauce) – {this topping is a low calorie gluten-free, locally-sourced sauce made with red or green bell peppers}.
Directions
Step 1: Cut casings off sausages and brown in skillet making sure Italian sausage is completely cooked.
Step 2: Place rolls or bread, open faced on cookie sheet and spoon cooked sausage on both sides of bread.
Step 3: Spoon marinara sauce over the sausage.
Step 4: Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese on top of the red sauce.
Optional: Sprinkle fresh or dried basil on top of the cheese
Step 5: Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for about 5 minutes (keep checking), just until cheese is melted and bread is toasted.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy!
