Connections Happen When We #ShareTheTable

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Barilla, but opinions are my own.

I’m a firm believe that dinner time is family time.  It’s important for everyone to gather around the table and eat together.   Other activities can wait, or dinner time can be worked around them.  As my children have gotten older, it’s gotten a little bit harder to ensure that we are always home for dinner, but it’s not impossible.  Eating together as a family allows for connections to be made, and I’ve seen it time and time again over the years.

Barilla thinks that connections are made when we #ShareTheTable, too.  In fact, they are so passionate about it, they are urging us to do this more often and partnered with Feeding America to help those in need.

Barilla’s Share The Table® Initiative

barilla share the table

Barilla wants to inspire, empower and support all families to share more meaningful meals together.

Feeding America is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to fighting domestic hunger through a network of food banks, and Barilla supports that goal.

Together, with our help, they can do amazing things.

Here’s how to get involved!

1.  Gather round the table as a family.

2.  Get clicky.  Take pictures of your family making connections!

3.  Share your picture or “Fammie” on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter using hashtag #ShareTheTable.

Barilla will help provide the monetary equivalent of ten meals to Feeding America, up to one million meals.  You have through  4/30/14 to get clicky!  {{smiling}}

Here’s a few factoids in case you aren’t convinced that connections happen when we #ShareTheTable:  Both parents and kids alike experience overall life satisfaction and increased emotional benefits when they share the table together.  Kids benefit from better grades (49% report mostly A’s) and healthier habits (such as eating nutritious foods, 33%) and describe themselves as respectful (75%), happy (70%), rule followers (66%), confident (58%), independent (56%) and hardworking (52%). Adults have more feelings of happiness (65%), and are less likely to have feelings of stress (65%).  The science doesn’t lie, y’all!

We #ShareTheTable

When we are all sitting around the table we do more than just eat.  We find out what’s happened during the day and get a glimpse of what’s important to each family member.  Sometimes, we even LAUGH.  {smiling}

 Join my family as our love grows around the table and help make mealtime a special time for families everywhere.  Join together for a meal.  Click.  Share.  It’s that simple.  #ShareTheTable

How do you make time to #ShareTheTable?

  1. Rachel Thomas says

    Even if we have to eat at 4:30, we set aside time each day to sit down together as a family. We too, believe it’s super important.

  2. Kathy Newfelder says

    When my kids were teenagers, this was really hard, but now that they are older, I can see what a big difference it made to take the time to have family meals. I love that Barilla is doing this. And, what a fun way to help others!

  3. The statistics are pretty compelling……
