The Incredible Sulk-{Guest Post}

by Angie on June 8, 2010

I’ve learned so much about teens from Kristi at Live and Love Out Loud.  It’s my pleasure to welcome her to my blog and invite you to visit her on her turf as well!

Live and Love…Out Loud

My sweet little boy has been kidnapped and replaced with a moody, sulking 15-year old boy. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls I’d like to introduce you to…The Incredible Sulk.

Folks, I’m navigating my way through a sea of teenage hormones and these waters are rough! What’s got me scrambling for a life jacket? Moody teenagers, mine in particular. Seriously, what is the deal with those hormones?

During a recent photo session, my son Andre refused to smile. Despite my attempts to replace his I’d-rather-be-anywhere-else-but-here facial expressions with a genuine smile, The Sulk held his ground. Little did he know that this mama is packing heat. I’ve got a weapon of mass destruction and I’m not afraid to use it!

Able to crawl from one end of the living room to the other in 20 seconds flat. Taking life one wobbly step at a time, while unleashing her sugary sweet goodness on moody teens everywhere. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you…The Smileinator.

Her pint-sized cuteness has the power to bring even this moody teen to his knees.

One sulking teen down, millions more to go. Moody teens everywhere are shaking in their low waisted, baggy jeans. They should be.

As a middle school teacher (before I was a Mom), I am very familiar with this sulk…this post is hysterical! You beat the Sulk!!! Victory!

Hi Rebecca,
As a middle school teacher, I’m sure you saw enough sulking to last you a lifetime! I have a hard enough time dealing with my son’s sulking. I don’t know how you survived an entire classroom full of sulking teenagers.
Thanks so much for commenting on my guest post. Have a great day.

And I thought dealing with 3 boys ages 5-9 was hard…I forgot that one day they will be sulky teenagers! :)

Melissa,
I’m sure your sweet boys will skip the sulking stage, but just in case…I’ll pray for you. lol

Hi Janmary,
You’re so right! Sulky teenagers, grouchy husbands and ornery people all over the world are no match for my pint-sized cutie.
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment on my guest post. Have a great day.

Does this work for moody kids? I may need the smileinator services soon.

Jen,
Why yea, The Smileinator is available for your sulk-banishing needs. She also does bar mitzvahs. Let me know if you’re interested in acquiring her services. :)

This actually made me tear up! I too have a fifteen year old son and a fifteen month old smilinator of my own. I’m so sick of looking at the teen with that sour ass look on his face 24/7. I’ve been known to “send him to the other room” just for looking like that!

Hi Pamela,
It sounds like we’re in the same boat! I can understand how you feel. It’s like no matter what you do, they just won’t bring themselves to smile. The scary thing is, I have four kids so I’ve got three more sulky faces to deal with at some point or another. I’ll be praying for a miracle! lol
Thanks for visiting me over at the big top! Have a good one…

Hello there Aging Mommy (Love your name!),
My sulky son definitely loves his little sister. She melts him to the core and there’s no hiding it! I’m just glad that someone has the power to make the boy smile. I can’t wait til he gets over the sulky stage!

OMG I LOVE IT! You have the sweetest kids!

I seriously dread DS1′s teen years (he is 8yrs old), he already is moody enough lol. I keep thinking… when he’s 15yrs old… the baby will be 7! AHH!

Awww, thanks Sarah!
Tristan and Daniel are cuties too. It’s pretty crazy when you think about the age difference isn’t it? I’m still in shock that I have a 15, soon-to-be 13, 7 and 1 year old. Who does that? I’m starting all over again! lol
Thanks for visiting me here at Seven Clown Circus. Hope you have a fabulous day Sarah.

Love the pics. I think we could all use a smileinator in our lives. I know I could, and my kids for sure. Maybe we could borrow her for a day? Great post, tugging at so many emotions.

Hi Alicia,
You’re so right. We all could use a little does of the Smileinator in our lives, couldn’t we? I’d be more than happy to let you borrow her for a day, but I’m coming with! It’d be extremely unfair for the baby to meet you in person while I’m stuck at home. lol
Thanks for stopping by and visiting me at the big top. Have a great day Lish.

Sigh..it makes me sad to think my own sweet boy may be a Moody Teen someday. I may have to have another baby in 8 years just to have a smileinator in the house!

I’m sure everyone tells you this but he really looks like Tiger Woods {but not in a i-will-cheat-on-my-wife-when-I’m-older sort of way]

Awww! I’ve always found that boys that age are a sucker for adorable babies. When I was still teaching 9th grade, my boys would go GAGA over my daughter (who was under a year old). . . much more so than my girls.
