Webkinz Jr. Review & Giveaway

Ganz, the makers of Webkinz recently released {April 2009} a new addition to their Webkinz line, Webkinz Jr.

Webkinz Jr. has the same function as Webkinz, just geared for a younger audience {ages 3-6}. Webkinz Jr’s. are plush toys with an attached ”code” which gives the Webkinz Jr. owner access to a virtual world. This virtual world is found at www.webkinzjr.com. Here, after unlocking the content with the code which comes with their toy, they care for their pet, play games and learn to navigate around the virtual world in a safe environment.

My older children have been long time fans of Webkinz, and my younger children have often asked to play as well, but just couldn’t as the content is too advanced for them. I was thrilled when I learned about Webkinz Jr. because now my twins can play Webkinz at an age appropriate level. As I mentioned earlier, the content in the virtual world is geared towards 3 to 6 year olds, and the actual plush dolls are larger than regular Webkinz, as one would expect for a smaller child.

My twins LOVE playing Webkinz Jr., and are most successful playing on a computer with a mouse, although they won’t turn down a chance to play on the lap top, too. The actual plush doll is super soft and well made.

I highly recommend Webkinz Jr. as an affordable and appropriate gift. With each Webkinz Jr. purchase, the child gets an actual toy, plus access to the virtual Webkinz Jr. World. Parents have the ability to set their child’s skill levels and manage the account within their login area. For an additional fee, a deluxe membership is available which sends detailed reports about the child’s progress, and includes more games.
