One Last Hurrah at the Magic Kingdom….

by Angie on November 20, 2009

Being a resident of Southern California DOES have some perks.

Lots of them, really.
For today though, I’ll just focus on the Disneyland perk, otherwise known as,

ANNUAL PASSES.

Our annual passes expire this month and so in order to get the most out of our Magic Kingdom passes we took the kidlets out of school and braved the crowds that ALWAYS SEEM TO BE present there.

EXCEPT…….

EXCEPT…….

We lucked out and the crowds were not the crowded I-just-want-to-get-out-of-here type of crowds.  Of course there were lots of people, but nothing like every other day we’ve gone to Disneyland this past year and wanted to pull our hair out in frustration because it was so densely packed with people.

We had SUCH a nice time…….

So much fun, in fact, that we almost considered springing for another year of Magic Kingdom enjoyment.

Almost.

Until NEXT time…….

Those little ones of yours are so cute. It is borderline ridiculous Angie : ). I am glad you had fun and the crowds weren't insane. I am not a big fan of crowds…

I miss Disneyland SOOOO much! In college, since it was like 15 minutes away (I went to UCIrvine) me and hubby-to-be got on a kick where we used to go at least once a month, just 'cause we liked ditching school. It was short lived b/c even with that resident discount it was ex-pen-sive. We weren't smart enough to buy passes, plus we never really planned to go it just sorta kept happening. Glad you guys had a fun school ditchworty day!

Annual passes and living close enough to use them? I don't even want to imagine the variety of crimes my children would be willing to commit in exchange for a chance at that.

Glad you had fun and it wasn't too crowded.

So fun…love all the smiles! I have never been when it is not crowded. My favorite time was over Thanksgiving when it is all Christmasy and crowded!

5 Lolli November 20, 2009 at 12:56 pm

What a fun perk! I would do it too. Heck, we got passes when we lived in Northern California, it's so fun!

6 Jaysi November 20, 2009 at 1:17 pm

How fun!!! Surprisingly, the crowds were minimal when we went to Disney World. We practically walked on to every ride!! I think that is the best way to enjoy Disney!

7 Rhonda November 20, 2009 at 1:18 pm

The kids know how lucky they are. Right?? I think they are living every kid's dream!!

8 Susie November 20, 2009 at 1:50 pm

What a blessing to live near such a magicial place.

9 Kristin November 20, 2009 at 1:51 pm

Living in Florida we do the same with Disney world. Haven't been lucky enough to hit it on a low crowds day.

10 Shell November 20, 2009 at 1:53 pm

What adorable pics! And that's a great perk. If my kiddos knew that they could go to the park all the time if we lived close, they would be lobbying for another move.

I never even considered the fact that they offer annual passes. Then again I've never been to any of the Disneys (World or Land) so I'm a big loser anyway.

12 S Club Mama November 20, 2009 at 2:30 pm

Oh I've always wanted to go to Disneyworld (or Disneyland, I'm not picky). :) Looks like you and the kids had a blast!

13 Elaine A. November 20, 2009 at 3:12 pm

That is definitely a wonderful PERK! So glad you got to go when it wasn't too crowded. And great photos!

14 Melissa November 20, 2009 at 3:33 pm

Lucky.

15 Justine November 20, 2009 at 4:23 pm

Ooh, great pictures, Angie! And wow, annual passes for a family of 7? That's gotta be mucho $$$$$$!!!!

Justine :o )

You know, I have never ever been to Disney World or Disney Land ever!
I never really had the desire to go until now because now Duchess would get a HUGE kick out of all the princesses. However, I must say, I would have way more in common with your MAD HATTER picture! Have a great day!

17 Heidi November 20, 2009 at 5:31 pm

Looks like a super fabulous trip!
I especially love the mad hatter picture at the end.
I wish that I could take my kids to Disney Land just once. I think they would love it.
So just curious, if you lived FAR away from Disney Land, what would be the perfect ages to take your kids if they were only going to see it once?
If you'd like to stop by my blog I'm at Cake Crumbs.

That's awesome. So glad that you had a great time. I can't wait to take my kids some day but we will go to Florida for that. Much closer.

19 T Rex Mom November 20, 2009 at 6:28 pm

That would be fun. Maybe a year without passes will make them that much more valuable a year from now!

Great photos!

20 Allison November 20, 2009 at 6:33 pm

What fun…of course, being the Disney nut I am, I wish we lived closer so we could have annual passes!

21 Liz (Loving Mom 2 Boys) November 20, 2009 at 7:01 pm

how fun!! Someday I will have to get to Disney land as well – but being as Disney World is just so much closer….

I can't imagine how nice it must be there when there aren't too many crowds!!

22 Tamara November 20, 2009 at 7:57 pm

So fun! I'm jealous! Our kids still are waiting for the day they get to go to Disneyland.

23 Amy November 20, 2009 at 9:59 pm

how much fun…

24 Chris November 20, 2009 at 10:23 pm

Disneyland is a magical place — it really is. It's funny how walking through the front gates of a place 700 miles from my driveway feels like coming home.

If I lived in southern California, I would have annual passes every year!

25 Kristin November 21, 2009 at 12:48 am

my kids are jealous, but not me. I'd rather shoot myself in the leg….

26 Annie November 21, 2009 at 1:33 am

Have fun Disney is great place, I like it.

Have a wonderful weekend.

27 Mama Kat November 21, 2009 at 1:34 am

When I was younger I wanted to work in Disneyland…maybe be Belle? Who knows, maybe it's still in my future. You could be Ariel with me.

28 mommaof4wife2r November 21, 2009 at 3:47 am

29 MoziEsmé November 21, 2009 at 5:42 am

Just a tad bit jealous here! I'd love to introduce my 2yo to the Magic Kingdom. Though my husband would probably go crazy with the lines…

30 Lindsay November 21, 2009 at 5:49 am

SO totally jealous….perhaps not as much for the annual passes, but for the fact that you're not wearing winter coats!! ;-)

31 BoufMom9 November 21, 2009 at 6:56 am

How fun!
i know those crowds all too well and it's compounded by taking more than 2 kids and not having enough hands to keep everyone together. Scary. (I hate going to parks during peak season. UGH)

32 Mark and Kiss November 21, 2009 at 8:23 am

What a fantastic day! The kids will always remember that they got to miss school and have a family day together! Love it. I am WAY happy for you that the lines weren't insane…We'll have to keep that in mind that the week before Thanksgiving is a good time to go…. :) I want to wait until Eliza is a couple years older, but I am always tempted to take a trip just with the older kids. That last photo is hilarious! (btw, thank you for stopping by the blog, its been awhile since I had posted and just recently started back up, love you girl!!!)

33 Shannon November 21, 2009 at 3:18 pm

I can't imagine having a season pass to Disney. TOo cool! Glad your last hurrah was a good one!

34 Becca @ Our Crazy Boys November 22, 2009 at 4:35 am

A day out of school to go to Disneyland? My little guys would be SO jealous.

Glad you had fun!

35 scrappysue November 22, 2009 at 5:05 am

to live so close *sigh* – glad u had a fun day. lovin' that last shot!

36 brunger bunch November 22, 2009 at 5:36 am

I am so glad you had a good time and that it wasn't crowded. They look so happy in the pictures, like its the first time they have been there. I truly believe it is the "happiest" place on earth. I think we are coming the week after thanksgiving…to make up for the last experience. We weren't going to come again until around february, but the kids were crying when we had to leave early last month, and Mike found a raging deal again for hotel. I let you know!! We would love to come by and see you:))

37 Mrs. Marine November 22, 2009 at 7:17 am

What fun! I do so miss D-land. Such a magical place.

40 Molly November 23, 2009 at 6:04 am

Perfect! So glad you are having fun with the fam!

41 Live.Love.Eat November 23, 2009 at 9:24 pm

I have no idea why we don't have annual passes for Disney World living just 20 min away. Maybe cuz it's still 85 in November and we will only go when it's more comfortable.

Great pics Angie.

42 Live.Love.Eat November 23, 2009 at 9:24 pm

P.S. And I love the red hair and smiles.

43 Cecily R November 23, 2009 at 9:51 pm

It's almost like you live in another world…my kids are playing in the snow right now!!

Great pics. I still have very fond memories of the year we got season passes to Lagoon. We've never done it since, but it sure was fun!

44 Angela November 23, 2009 at 10:38 pm

We went on Wednesday because it was my MIL's birthday, and it was not super crowded at all! I was nervous because the traffic would have me thinking otherwise, but once we got into the park the lines were short and the walkways were easily navigated. We still have a few more months on our passes, and I'm still deciding if we should renew or not. Glad you had a good time!

45 girlytwins November 24, 2009 at 12:39 am

I so wanna go to Disneyland. We took the girls for their birthday this year and I so wish we would have gotten season passes.
